Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, or APAHM, is celebrated in the month of May. In the 1970s, a culmination of bills were presented pushing for an Asian Pacific Heritage Week, one introduced by Hawaii’s own former senators Daniel Inouye and Spark Matsunaga. With the help of national organizations and the tireless efforts of Capitol Hill staff, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month was successfully secured in 1992.
